On 24-25 October, the Sustainable Development Forum 2019 was held in Beijing. Mr. Thorsten Giehler, Country Director of GIZ China and Co-Director of the Cluster of China in the World in GIZ China, attended the forum, and delivered a speech on how GIZ, on behalf of German federal government, has been working together with Chinese partners in the field of sustainable development both in and out of China, especially through the Sino-German Center for Sustainable Development, a joint initiative to implement the MoU on trilateral cooperation between German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and Chinese Ministry of Commerce.
The forum, co-hosted by the Development Research Center of the State Council, the Beijing Municipal Government and relevant organizations of the United Nations, and organized by China Center for International Knowledge on Development (CIKD), with the subtitle of “Action, Action, Action”, aims to explore the actions and experiences of relevant parties including governments, enterprises, international organizations, think tanks and social organizations, in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
At the closing ceremony of forum, the 2019 Sustainable Development Forum Initiatives, or World Harmony House Initiatives, were launched. The initiatives called on international organizations, governments, enterprises, think tanks and academia as well as civil society from China and internationally to join hands and take immediate actions for a prosperous and sustainable future for the next generation.
